Fork return lift spring

I am restoring a 1950 TO20. When I got into the
hydraulics, I found that someone had canibalized
some of the internal parts before I got it. It was
missing all the linkage from the cover down to the
pump including the fork return lift spring. I have
located everything but the spring. Does anyone know
where I could locate one of them or find a
substitute spring that would work for this
application?

Try tractor salvage if it"s a special spring. I find hardware store"s have a lot of different springs. Go to AGCO Parts Book.com then view as guest then type in 20 and MF. It will show everything you need and a picture of spring and part #.

Thanks for your suggestion. I have the parts manual for the Ferguson TO20. So I know what it looks like and the part number. My question is size and spring tension since I have not been able to locate one at any of the salvage sites I am hoping to get aprox size and tension so I can go to a hardware store and try to locate a spring that will work.

Don't forget that a Ford 9N and 2N used the same spring. The 8N did not. If I had a spring scale I have an extra one here I could measure and tell you the tension. Let me think on how I could measure the tension.
