Thinking of buying a 1960 Fordson Major DIESEL. But it is hard to start. Have to use either to start it. Seems to run fair then. Any ideas.... Low Compression, Injectors, are the first thing that comes to mind. Can I still get injector parts? Any one got any other ideas as to what else to check ? Or is that the nature of the beast? I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT FORDS !!!!!! Probably should leave it alone !!!! THANKS TO ANYONE WHO HAS AN IDEA. Enjoy your day.

In the immortal words of our beloved patron saint, Duchess Sara Ferguson, "unless one has oddles of grosh, one must mind their pennies"
Tracking this non issue might end in a complete rebuild, which I bet it doesn't need yet at all, which would be between 2 to 5 grand? compare to?.... starting fluid is about $1.89 a can? +/-50? squirts a can? Or as Fergie would say "5 farthings a turn? There is good value in that stuff mate"...

You make a good point !! Am I wrong in a assuming that starting fluid is hard on the pistons & rings? I wonder how long this can go on until trouble starts. Just a thought. Thanks a lot for your opinion, you make a good point and would be the way to go for sure if nothing is harmed by it.
