FE35 Steering Box

Hi Guys. In the process of restoring my '56 Gold/Grey FE35.
The steering box seems very loose. When I waggle the steering wheel, the left (which I read somewhere is the primary) drop arm, moves long before the right hand (secondary) drop arm.
Obviously something is worn. Can adjustments be made (I have tightened the lower of the two top nuts)?
Thanks. Rod.

HeyCharger, why don't you just let me give you $2000 I will take that Grey/Gold then you won't have to worry about what is worn? Now I am wondering what it would cost to get it here from where ever you are. LOL Richard

It's been awhile but yes, adjustments can be made. There are lock nuts on the sector gears and a slot into which you can put a flat screwdriver to loosen/tighten. Something tells me though that you might have worn sector gears. Can't remember the exact procedure but I do know that the difference between just right and so tight you can't turn isn't much! Do you have a shop manual for your tractor? All parts should be available although from different sources from where I would look in NA.

Well that looks a bit different from what I was thinking. Maybe it's different from a TO35. I will have a look at mine this evening. Maybe it was my 202 that I am thinking of although I thought it was virtually identical.

Charger, if you buy from that link you put up there add all of those Great British Pound numbers together then multiply by 1.56 then your answer is in dollars, plus or minus a very little. Oh yes don't forget that little item called postage. My offer still stands for at least another hour.

Pardon me if a FE is different from a TO.......well I know it's different in some respects, just not sure about the steering.
Here's a couple of pictures of my TO-35.

Just looked at some other photos online of a FE35 and it looks as though it's a completely different animal, at least steering wise. The TO has tapered gears which are adjustable, looks as though the FE gears would have to be replaced if they were worn.
Guess I'm on the wrong side of the pond to be much help. :)
