Ive got a to-20 ferguson that today when using a box scrape
the tractor knocked off, I found the distributor had came loose
and jumped off the gear.....now I cannot get it back in time!!!

with out tearing everything apart it can be done find compression stroke on #one piston thumb over plug hole if you can find your timing marks that will help alot slid dist. back in with points just about to open remember your timing order that should get you running again.

Done all this multiple times, finally found manual and set point gaps and set timing advanced as points just barely open using "30" on the flywheel timing numbers yet still not running, I do hear some firing so I'm getting closer, good fire and compression, deff. Have fuel for I can smell it, may be flooded. I'm going to let it sit and try it later. Thanks for the input

STATIC TIMING . Determine what direction the flywheel turns , and which direction the rotor goes . Remove all plugs . Bring #1 cylinder up on compression stroke . Locate your timing mark on the flywheel . When you are at top dead center , you should have a timing mark that lines up at top dead center . ? Maybe not ? . Now back the flywheel up so that the ignition timing mark is lined up in the run position with the pointer . That done , now set the points to the proper gap , with point rubbing block on the high spot on the lobe . Install the dist. with the rotor pointing to the #1 plug post on the cap . NOW . With the timing pointer pointing at the timing mark on the flywheel and the dist installed with the rotor pointing at the number one position with the cap off , and with the ignition switch on , turn the dist. in the direction that the rotor normaly goes , until the points are closed . Now turn the dist. back in the other direction until the points start to open . You will hear the snap , and be able to see the spark at the points . Tighten the bolt that holds the dist.. At this point , you are right on . Start the motor , and use the tractor . Enjoy . After you have done this several times , you will understand what i have told you . This is a nice thing about a point type ignition .
