ferguson engine

is the z129 motor dry sleeves or wet in a 1952 TO 30 just bought it and will be rebuilding entire tractor to make it new thanks for any info

They are wet sleeves you can pull these out and put in a Z 134 sleeve if you wish when you rebuild it.

No it doesn't, I made my own using a 2 x 4 and make it round enough to grab the out side of the bottom of the sleeves, a threaded rod (fine threads if you can find it) and a block of wood with short legs on the top side so it is missing the sleeves as you pull it up with the threaded rod. Fine thread turns easier.

If you can...where the sleeve goes into the block towards the bottom, take a welder and run a couple of beads inside the sleeve. Just like a bearing race when the weld cools it will shrink the sleeve and make it much easier to remove.

thanks to everyone i will be bringing the tractor home tomorrow need to put a new battery in and some fresh gas then i can start it and check it out i will stay in touch i will try to post a picture of it befor i do any work on it again thanks for the info

Yeah check the oil pressure before tearing it down, there's nothing worse than having to re-do the rebuild. I'd make sure the clutch works good and no leaks from the rear seal also.

putin new battery new plugs new top o ring in fuel bowl started up after i by passed bad key switch engine sounds ok clutch is strong all gears ok no brakes pulled back tires then brake drums oil covered both inner and outer seals are bad pulled axle bearing is ok seals are removed ordered new for both sides and new brake shoes pto also leaks pulled shaft bearing ok ordered new seal gasket and cover enough for today

i ran the engine for a good 25 minutes i have cleaned the block and see no signs of any cracks or leaks no water in the oil and no oil in the water both look good did a compression test and all 4 cylinders measured within 2 lbs of each other valves need adjusting noisy i need to replace oil gauge badly rusted check in tranny gears all look like new think i got a good tractor to work on for $500. check tractor photos to see it
