about those pet peeves

my biggest one is not about the tractor but who owned it previously and did not bother to do routine maintenance or neglected to use some common sense. case in point is my TO-35 that I acquired about SIX WEEKS ago THAT WAS "STORED" IN A BARN FOR MANY YEARS. the rears were loaded and one valve stem was left at the bottom and you know what happened next. I will post a pic of the "rot" later on today.

I am sure most of you have seen worse.

Been there, done that, bought the rust colored T-shirt.

Cleaned them up, took the fluid out, welded in a patch, and have never regretted it.

Anyone have problems getting water filled tires to hold air after draining the water, I'm thinking the valve stem must need changing?

Steve that is a simple fix. just cut out the bad part and find a rim that is rusted and cut out a piece the same size as you cut out of the first rim and weld it in. Grind off the weld and put paint on the outside an you will never know that it was repaired. On the inside grind it smooth and put some bondo on and sand smooth and drill a new hole for the valve stem. I know of a lot of rims that have been repaired that way and are used for heavy farming and some also for tractor pulling.

Mine looked like that. Now they look like new. Cuz they are. For the price of a new pair or rims, I decided 1) I wasn't going to do the repair, 2) I wasn't paying someone else to do the repair.
