Any pet peeves or dislikes with your Ferguson?

I just thought I would ask the question. I love my little tractor. My only problem is I wear a size 13 1/2 boot. While the individual brake pedals are a good idea, they obviously were not designed for a person with a big shoe...I have gotten my foot caught several times getting off the tractor. The TO-30 I grew up with had been farmerized. The left brake pedal had been cut off and the right pedal had been cut and bent to the right and a piece of rod was welded to it and bent to the left to where it looked like a number 7 and it came out right beside the main brake pedal. The old guy at the dealership here said there were lots of Fergusons done that way around here.

So you have an exceptional grip on [i:073d813e6c]Terra Firma[/i:073d813e6c], eh?

In Australia most Fergys run upswept exhaust pipes due to the risk of grass and bush fires with the normal exhaust. I always get a face full of hot exhaust and if I make the exhaust any higher it gets hung up on low tree branches. But it is not really a complaint about the perfect little tractor!

I have a 1957 TO-35 and the center hood opening continues to rattle. They used about 10 plus parts to weld and bolt this mini hood opening door.

In later years they just held it down with a large screw which held it tight.

but mine likes to rattle at certain RPM's in spite of numerous rubber pads.

bet they did not deliver one of these hood rattlers to the big boss's farm.

Maxwell have you ever tried putting dynamat on the underside of the hood? Dynamat is a thin sound deadening material. It is adhesive on one side. It first came out to deaden rattles in cars from car stereos and it works. I"ve used it numerous times and it works. You might want to give it a try.

(quoted from post at 19:41:21 07/28/13) Maybe I learned something today. I was under the impression all of the Fergusons came with Generators.

As far as I know they did.

Maybe I didn't explain what I meant well enough. I just meant that the generators they came with don't put out a whole lot. I wish they had alternators instead.

I have a '52 TO30, the only thing that I don't like about it is (as everyone knows) when you push in the clutch,it kills the lift and PTO. But considering the price of later models with modern conveniences, I make do very well.

"I just meant that the generators they came with don't put out a whole lot."

From memory, the 12 volt Lucas generator on the TEA20 max output is only 11 amps (130 watts or one sixth of a horse power), but that is more than enough to recharge the battery.

Night ploughing with headlights and an implement light will flatten the battery.

My guess the TO20 and TO30 generators are not much better.

I have only had two Fergusons and I restored my TO 30 and kept the Generator in order to maintain the original look. I also have a TO 35 and it has a alternator and I will replace it with the correct generator when I restore that one. Yes alternators do put out a little more or quicker than a generator will.

Love my 52 TO30, but if I had a dollar for every time I've run out of gas, I'd be retired. So my wish would be an in dash gas gauge - way better than a paint stick.

The ergonomics of the individual brake pedals leave a lot to be desired. They"re located such that they are hard to use and they can catch a pant leg or nick a shin when you dismount.
