PTO Shaft seal replacement.

I have a TO30 I am trying to replace the PTO shaft bearing and seal. I have the shaft removed and the Clip removed but cannot figure out how to remove everything from the housing. From what I can tell it should just hammer out???

According to the manual after you remove the large internal snap ring from inside the pto housing it says to take a lead hammer and drive the pto shaft, bearing, and sleeve from the housing. Then to remove the bearing remove the snap ring from the end of the shaft and support the bearing with a bearing splitter and press the shaft out of the bearing and sleeve.

May be cheaper and easier to change the PTO drive shaft?

I changed the PTO drive shaft on my TEA20 many years ago, to get rid of the orphan 1 1/8" spine for the more modern 1 3/8" spline.

Replacement PTO shafts including bearing and seal were around $100.

If you are doing just the seal - Remove 4 bolts , slide housing and PTO shaft gently from tractor. Next remove 1 large circlip form the inside of housing holding the bearing & shaft in the housing. With a block of wood or a dead blow hammer - gently drive the shaft and bearing from the housing. Next any way you can drive the seals from the inside to the outside of housing -replace the seal with the newer style (a lot narrower) in the housing (I measured deep enough to get the seal lip riding on the best surface of the shaft I could . slide shaft into seal carefully install circlip carefully slide shaft into the machine being careful slide the end into the roller bearings - Of course the gasket surface should have been cleaned and new gasket readied for the housing against the differential housing. Tighten bolts and go to work(after checking gear oil).
