The ole Marvel Scheblers had a habit of leaking with very little aggravation. Even when rebuilt they would love a tiny excuse to leak. I went to Grose jets it helped but any impurity in the fuel and there was trouble. With the old rusty tanks it is even worse - also tractors get fueled often from gas cans (a great invitation to get dirty fuel. Being human (at least part I hope) I also have left my fuel on , I put a note by the Ignition switch. But being absent minded and the sign was an "old thing" I got used to fast, I decided I needed help. I looked on ebay and bought 4 or 5, 12 volt electric fuel shut offs. I have on on each tractor -they automaticly shut off when the ign is turned off. I look and find them for less then $30.00 & I never shut the fuel off at the valve. My Fergy will get one this week.

good idea on electric shutoffs.

I thought about adding one to mine.
but too lazy,

figured they would be like the gas cutoffs, in time they wear and will not cut the gas off to carb.

then its a drain tank and replace cutoff and they are like the carb kits of today, no longer the quality they used to be. one time I got the third one before I got one that would seal when cut off. may have been a bad batch, I try to buy the best one I can get.

like most things for our old tractors, made across the big waters.

I keep the original sediment bowl & shut off valve. Then put the solenoid valve in line (some of them aren't much bigger than an inline filter. The first one I installed in 1994 on my Case 300 is still working fine. the good is that on a hot Oklahoma day if the float sticks shut off is instant -reducing a fire hazard. I will try to get a pic tomorrow if I can.
