Help i need a wiring diagram for a TO30 one wire alternator. I know mine is wrong and i keep burning up switches.

as indicated go to fena dot org then resources and wiring diagrams.

One wire output from alternator goes to AMP meter (same place as BAT wire from generator regulator)
If there was an L post on old regulator it supplied power to lights and ignition switch. With alternator this connection is to alternator side of ammeter, or just attach L wire from regulator to output post of alternator.

Unless modified the alternator must be negative ground. (connect ammeter so it shows negative with lights or ignition on, engine not running. Also with negative ground the - side of coil goes to distributor.

If this is a 6 to 12 volt conversion you must either add a ballast resistor between switch and + post on coil, or replace coil with a direct 12 volt coil (NAPA IC14SB or equivalent). Failure to do this will allow excess current through the ignition system resulting in damage to points, coil and possibly the ignition switch.

Thankshappy for the help.FENA site does not have a one wire. Alt. diagram. One problem i have is there is no wire to the small stud on the solinoid but it still works. Thats why i need a diagram. Thanks.

Take the TO-30 12 volt diagram from FENA.

Eliminate the generator and regulator and the 2 wires between generator and regulator.

This leaves the B (Bat) and L (switch Load) wires that were connected to regulator.

B wire goes to big output stud on one wire alternator.

L can either connect with B wire to back of alternator or replace with wire from alternator side of ammeter to switch.

Solenoid wire is a separate issue as changing from generator to alternator should have no effect on starter/cranking circuit.

No one mentioned a safety issue. That tractor never came with a solenoid. GET RID OF IT and use the original gear shift style starter switch. They work good and are available on this site.
I HAD a friend who started a modified tractor like yours while standing beside it and he's now in Forest Cemetery. It was in gear. Need I say more?
