hydraulic pump

I posted a message some time ago about my (1955 TO35, gas, single stage clutch, serial #S149578) 3pt going on the fritz all of a sudden 1 day while using my mower. It went crazy and just lifted up and nothing I did would make it go down, then all of sudden it went down and would not come back up. I removed the right side inspection plate and wasn"t able to see anything loose or broken. Using a screw driver I was able to operate the 3pt up and down, but the position control arms wont work, there just loose. I finally got around to pulling the top cover off to take a closer look at the mechanism. NOTHING IS BROKEN? I guess I will need to finally purchase a service manual and maybe even the hydraulic repair DVD. My question probably sounds obvious to all the experts that use this site, but here it is. With the top off, should I go ahead and re-build the pump even though it is working, and are there any secrets to pulling it out. I"m also replacing the PTO shaft, seals and bearings. Any tricks to removing the PTO gear to get to the bushing or bearing in the housing? I have the shaft out with no problem. Sorry for the long posting, I wont ask the million other questions I have.

I highly recommend the manual or DVD sounds like the cam needs adjustment for the vertical levers that works the pump valves knowing what it means is half the battle good luck to ya You will be the expert after this.
