Ferguson working day (pics)

We had an excellent Ferguson working day here in Northern Ireland yesterday, at The Ulster Folk Museum, Cultra, Belfast. This is a working/living open air museum and definitely worth taking time to visit if any of you ever get to visit our wee country. The houses were all dismantled stone by stone from around the country and rebuilt as they would have been around 1900........This is the advertising sign on the main Belfast to Bangor road (as opposed to Belfast to Bangor Maine!....LOL)

And the same on the other side of the spreader

A poliitical campaign!

Thanks for the photos! Is that a hillman van? I am particularly impressed with the Fergie on the banana lift!

Thanks Samn, way better than the Savannah farmers market, 4 johnny poppers, case, 2cubs, a high crop international and an 8n. Better check your shoes!!

The van is an Austin A55 . Some Ferguson dealers used Standard
Vanguard vans as they used the same Standard engine as was in the
tractors, but Harry himself was the main importer of Austin cars
and commercials into Norn Iron and most Ferguson dealers also
sold Austin cars so it was a natural choice to use the A55.

Back when I was young dad had a Fergy 30 and a formerly horse drawn spreader that had the front spreader wheels removed and rubber tires on the back. It was tongue heavy with the front wheels off. When it was hooked to the Fergy and you engaged the ground driven apron chain and beaters, starting out the Fergy did wheel stands. It was fun!

Sam,

In the first Picture. What is that big backend showing in the middle of the picture?

It looks to be a TE on more steroids than a Russian Weight Lifter.

Look again Jeff, the pic was taken from an upstairs window and that tractor is elevated.....an optical illusion!
Sam

I think it is just an optical illusion... or one of Sam's famous faux fergies... like General Patton's inflatable armored division...
I feel sorry for that ol van, I think I saw that one in an old Peter Seller's movie.

If your thinking of the one where he drove it into the pool, that was a three wheel van.
