TO35 STUCK IN REVERSE

I used the tractor the other day and when I parked it I left it in reverse.
When I returned later to use it the shifter wouldn"t come out of that position.
Any Ideas?

remove the oil fill plug on the top of the transmission and using a long screw driver move the slides inside until they all line up in the neutral position.

I will try that, I have had the oil plug out just to see if I could see anything, wasnt sure at the time what to look for.
Are the fingers way down near large gears?

as others have said
remove the large transmission oil fill cap

use a long screwdriver and try to move the slides on the shifter rods.

do you have plenty of oil in the transmission.
when was the last time you changed the transmission/hyd oil?

my old to35 used to lock up sometimes, but I learned to never, never pull up on the shift lever when I was shifting,
that seemed to have some cause for my trans to lockup. so I trained my self to always place some down pressure on the shift lever when shifting.

did I say never pull up on the shift lever when shifting.

many times it will lock when you are going in reverse and reach to shift before you stop. with shifter in hand and your body goes back as you stop, you will pull up on the shift lever,

hey it just happens.

you can learn new tricks.

after you get it unstuck, just try not to ever lift up on the shift lever when you change gears.

good luck and let us know how it goes.

but do not beat and bang on the gears, you may have to call in a professional, if you can not get it unstuck.

1 1/16" Wrench & large flatblade screwdriver: Ferguson repair kit. Do as other posts have said to do, sometimes if there is a spare hand there to lightly "rock" the tractor forward and back it helps out.

I will try this when I get home this evening and let all know how I make out.
Thanks for the tips.
Also before I found that the transmission was stuck in reverse, my young son had been playing and pretending to drive it and was shifting all levers every which way.
