Ferguson 40

We are getting ready to start a 40 with a continental engine. Have enhanced the engine a little, to make it a competitive 3500 to 4500 puller. My question is what is the stock timing? idle and wide open. 2500. Thanks Vic

looking in the archives I find it shows 6 deg. before top dead center.

Can"t help with the timing but am interested in "enhanced" . I stroked aZ129 and increased the bore a bit but it was never very competitive... This was a TO30... Pulling at 3500 #. What have you done?

Thanks I found that also, but it doesn't tell the total advance. We gained about 100 cu inches and the compression is 12.5. Should have 85 hp at 2300.

It"s not a Z134 engine but for a Z129 engine the timing is 32 degrees at 2000 rpms.

Last MF 50 distributor I had on the tester had 10 degrees total, would be 20 at crank.

Soo with 5 to 6 deg to start with that would be 25 to 26 right. total. thanks vic. Started it with 10 deg btdc today with no advance dialed in and with the stock carb. ran and sounded good. Thanks for any help. Vic
