Can one change gears while moving?

I recently viewed a ferguson TEA 20 tractor video on Utube and the owner appeared to change gears while moving but I can't be certain as it was not clear to see.
I recall someone saying that "You must stop to select a gear" and I have never tried to change gears while moving.
I stop and select the required gear as I don't think that these gearboxes have a synchromesh to enable that to be done.
Am I correct?

I've tried a couple of times but was never successful. That gear-grinding noise is really ugly, so I quit trying. :)

On our hilly roads you have to change gears if you want to get
anywhere....but, you have to be quick. You have to close the
throttle, dip the clutch and change gear all in one swift operation.
Need to start practising when you are 10 years old....so maybe too
late for some of you! LOL....Sam

I used to do it on the TO30 I grew up with but I can not for the life of me do it on my TO20. I can't explain that one.

I can do it with my 202, the gears are probably pretty well rounded on the edges, doesn't grind if I do it quickly. Haven't really tried with my TO35, it's much tighter than the 202.

Why can't you change gear in a TEA20 whilst moving?

With the exception of 2nd back to 1st, I have been changing gear on the move in my TEA20 for the past thirty years!

Alsdo depends on what gears your trying to change and how. The wife's TO-20 grinds 1-2 but not 3-4.
The problem being the lack of a foot pdal for the gas. If able to easily change the engine RPM, then it would be quite possible to change with no grind.
Look up double clutching.

I suppose not but without a foot throttle it becomes much harder to co-ordinate things properly.

Thanks for the feedback.
Will try a 3rd to 4th upshift when on the move next time.
If brave I may try the 4th to 3rd downshift.
Hope I don't break anything.
It's true that a foot operated throttle would make the shifting much easier but the standard setup has it's logic also.

(quoted from post at 10:37:40 06/16/13) My to30 does upshifts and downshifts just fine
I tried shifting up and down on my tractor on the week end and it was just fine as you say in your post.
