Ferguson 30 cutting off

I have a Ferguson 30 that starts right up and runs for just a few minutes, then cuts off. It usually will not start again for a half hour or more. I then start it up and it does the same thing. It runs for 3 - 5 minutes and cuts off. I tried different gas, cleaning the gas bowl, adding a lead substitute, and adjusting the carb, but nothing works.

if it sputters, coughs and hiccups before shutting down it is most likely a fuel problem. if it just cuts out and dies most likely wiring/electrical.

i'm thinking it's the condenser or key switch they will go bad as well it's happened to me the coil should run a little longer before it gets hot then stops.

Next time it starts to cough pull out the choke , if it recovers , even a little bit then you probably have a fuel blockage in a secondary filter . If it does not recover then 'electrickery' is probably to blame . Coils have a habit of giving these symptoms , a small break opens up when hot and opens the circuit , then closes when cold which is enough to let the tractor start again .

Thanks for all your ideas. It does seem to sputter a little before dying as if the gas is running out. If I pull the choke or give it a quick increase in speed, it recovers for a second or two and dies.
