Exhaust leak back side of manifold

The manifold at the rear side of the tractor does not seal to the block. The front port and the two intake ports are sealed but the rear exhaust port has approximately a 1/4 inch gap. When tractor is throttled up and then down sparks fly out. Why would this not be flush to the block like the rest of it? Does it need to be replaced? How hard of a task would it be to repair this?

It sounds like the maifold is warped. You could have the back side resurfaced at a machine shop so that it would be flush. A quarter inch is pretty bad. Is it torqued properly? The alternative is to replace the manifold.
get some price estimates for each and make your decision.

I would try tightening the bolts first,
if that did not work then replace the exhaust manifold.

if you run it long enough like that, the exhaust gases can cut a groove in the head,

then you will have to replace the exhaust manifold and have the head welded up.
big expense.

just my two cents

just replaced the exhaust manifold on my TO-35.

not impossible, but it did take some time and effort.

will need all new exhaust manifold nuts, do not use the same nuts!!!!!!!!!!!

Do the nuts come with the new manifold? What kind did you replace with? Stainless? I have no idea how long it has been this way.
