hi,sometimes my tractor ferguson to30 shuts down while using it,I pull fuel line off at the inline filter, let fuel pour out,put line back on and start tractor up,why is it doing this?thanks.and Tony in Ma.I like your idea on getting together with ferguson friends,I will go but have no way of getting my tractor there, but still would like to meet other ferguson nuts.thanks.

Carb lower than tank. Fuel should run down hill. That"s what I always thought. I found that if there is isn"t a nice steady downward path the flow will stop. Make sure there is no level or upward bend in the fuel line.

Is your in line filter a low pressure one designed for gravity feed ? Sometimes it is easy to fit one made for pressurised fuel delivery systems by mistake [ usually by the person who sold it to you !], these have far too much resistance to flow and cause starvation like you described . Try fitting one specially made for a motorcycle or large ride on mower.

Does problem happen with fuel cap removed?
Plugged cap vent.
In line filter is plugged. Especially if after market add on.

Also check the fuel screen at the Carb. There is a fuel filter in the carb where the fuel line attaches.

kinda suprised about peoples thoughts on the inline filter, seems like most people do not like to use one, when I bought tractor it had one,so I always used one,I use a fram clear plastic one, pretty basic filter, you think I don't need one?I think its like a vapor lock, because when I disconnect fuel line the fuel starts flowing, then quickly put line back on and I'm good to go,maybe I'll try without filter and see if problem continues, thanks for all replies.
