the lift "chatters" a wee bit when lifting

as soon as engine is shut off or clutch is pushed down lift begins to drop

possible causes and fixes ???

tractor is not live hyd.or live pto machine

Could be leaky O rings, that would be the most simple thing. Could be a control valve issue. Could just be in need of rebuild. When was the last time the hyd. fluid was replaced? Is there any water in it?

I changed the fluid last fall.

piston/cylinder rings failing? Take a peak inside while lifting and see if it looks like mine did.. more oil going out the rod end of the cylinder than staying inside.

Not a bad job to have to replace the cylinder. And if you've got the old 2.5? inch cylinder, you can upgrade to the 3" and get a little more oomph outta your 3pt. Does require a bit of work drilling the bolt holes in the top cover out to accommodate the larger screws, but nothing difficult.
