OT (ball/pintle combo)

Do you have a collection of military trailers? Or are you a paving contractor??? Those are the only people I know who use these things. Why don't you post this on the other forums too- 'tractor transporting and tool talk'. You'll find them in the discussion forum list.

I don't think your question was out of place here . I also would like to know about using them on our tractors at times . I bought a pintle hitch for my truck just in case I need one of those . A guy once told me how he ended all pesty family & friends wanting to borrow his trailers . By installing a pintle ring on his trailer tongue . Now I need to get the ring part for my trailers . I hth ! Ken

agree with Ken, question is fine on this or any form you can get good replys, everyone uses different forms,,,, thinking of getting one myself, would works great on my tow strap that has circle ends, won't slip off, like on a regular hitch, etc..

No don't remove it, it's just that those other forums have a heck of a lot more people into this sort of thing.
I don't think many of us fergie people are that far into the late 20th century devices. You will get quick and hopefully intelligent responses on the other forums. One has a lot of threads on hitches etc.

They use pintle hitches on semis when they pull Tandoms (or they did B4 I retired). I had a pintle on a 20 ft trailer that I hauled antique tractors all over the eastern 1/2 OF the United States, for 2 years. It worked fine even at highway speeds.I did it because of the "borrow factor" . To many times when I needed it it hadn"t been returned when promised.
