I am not a believer in in-line fuel filters on these old machines -there's already three in place, two in sediment bowl and one in carb inlet. If it gives you a warm and fuzzy, that's fine as it is your tractor so do whatever you feel is right. Here's the problem with the fuel sediment bowl assembly. They wear out -plain and simple. It's the valve stem, not the whole assembly that needs replacing. You can buy just the valve stem separately. They new ones use a vinyl gasket and valve stem seal which doesn't take long for the new ethanol to eat away at. I get a kit with a cork bowl gasket and a new brass top screen, and, yes, soak new cork gasket in gas before installing and throw away the rubber one. Now, just because TSC sells it doesn't mean it is a TISCO part. TSC sells very little TISCO parts anymore -check the package! They try to package them in a similar pattern but you really need to do your homework. Plus, they seem to overprice everything. In short, buy a new valve stem assembly and a cork gasket kit and it'll cure your leaking issues...
