Based on what I paid to have my clutch rebuilt, I'd say that's probably pretty fair although everything costs us more here in Canada.
If it were me, I'd strongly suggest to the customer that he have the seal replaced. The seal is dirt cheap compared to the price of labor to split the tractor.
If you don't mind me asking, how much was the new clutch?

For a second there Tony I thought you broke into my garage and took pictures of my tractor! That is a very familiar scene.

All too familiar eh Inno? I like a 'refresher course' now and then... but this is getting old hat... don't tell me you wrap duck tape around the pilot tool too? But then, Red Green lives just down the road from you... Those tranny seals depress me into needing another black label... still requires another split... or worse...

Hey Tony, where are you located in Mass? I'm in Pepperell and also dealing with an industrial Massey, my fathers actually. It's a basket case 204. I would be cool to get together and shoot the bull sometime> :)

On a normal year you would probably be correct. This year is absolutely brutal here! Last year at this time I am pretty sure I cut the grass at least once. Can't even see it now 'cause there's still a LOT of snow on it. When I look at the extended (14 day) forecast it always says that the next 7 days are going to be cold, windy and snowy and the 7 days after that things are going to warm up.......Then that date comes and they say the same thing, bad for 7 days then good after that....I don't think they've bothered to change the forecast for at least a month, maybe two. Today we were supposed to get rain, which would have been great to knock down some snow, nope, came down in a white solid form as opposed to a clear liquid form. Must be what it's like to live in Alaska!
