Three point won't lift, did I screw up?

Hey guys. My 1955 TO-35 came with a single remote when I bought it back in 2007. I have nothing that uses remotes so recently I decided to install the block off plate. I took the single remote plate and hose off and put on the block off plate, I replaced the o-rings on the pipe and the holes on the bottom too. Now my three point lift does not work at all. I put the remote plate back on and same thing, it doesn't even begin to lift.

So, what did I do wrong here? I've always taken good care of the tractor, I replaced the tranny fluid with new GL1 90W last summer. It's filled up to the proper level. Could I have somehow introduced air into the system? I can try to post some pics if need be.

It sounds like when you put the standpipe back in that you
missed the hole. Pull the cover off of the standpipe and crank
the motor over. Don't crank the motor up just turn it over with
the starter. If no oil comes out of the standpipe then you have
missed the hole for it at the bottom.

Jason is probably right, but, if you take the porthole off the right side, you can just get your hand in there and make sure it is in the hole in the pump- just that if the fluid is on fill, you will have a mess. so raise up the right side to throw off the level, or drain enough out to not wear it.

Thanks alot. So, the standpipe is what delivers fluid to the lift? Can the hole in the pump for the standpipe be seen from the top looking through the hole?

Sometimes you can see it, sometimes you can't. Depth of oil, color of oil... ability to aim a flash lite and eyeball into the same hole.... So I just remembered something that I did once before, on a lark. Took a long welding rod, wiggled around, found the hole, it drops in about an inch. Put the tube around it, be sure you have the tube stuck in there good and solid, pull out the rod. Bob's yer uncle.

I did the very same thing on my 175 once. The only difference is my 175 has pressure control which means there is a block in the middle of the standpipe. You can"t pull it out from the top and there is hardly enough room to get my big hand in the side cover and up to the standpipe to get it in the hole. If your lift arms are still hooked up, if the standpipe is in the hole in the bottom fluid can come shooting out if you move the lift arms even a little bit. I"ve had that happen also. While your at it, did you check the condition of the Teflon back up washers behind the orings?

Here are pictures of the standpipe hole in the old and new style pumps. Its easy to miss when installing the pipe. You quite likely have the old style pump in a 1955 TO35 put it is possible it may have been upgraded over the years.
