Thank you for the help however I have checked out those things, taken the carb apart at least 5 times and soaked it in solution for 24 hrs. I've had this tractor for 20 years. This problem is puzzling. Do you have any other ideas I can try?

Charles,
it goes without saying that before you start working on a fuel related problem.

you must insure the electric system is all in a-1 shape.

I had a problem once, run a while then stop, then cool down and run again.
it was the coil ??????? just changed the coil and things cleared up.

is the distributor shaft still in good shape, the top bearing can be worn and that will let your points move .020 - .030 I got a new distributor, but if you can find the right guy he can replace that top bearing if its worn.

at this point anything and every thing is suspect.

these tractors are old and so many things can cause you problems.

when you get it right it will idle at 400 rpm's and take the fuel when you sink the plow or disk in the ground and open the throttle.

keep us informed of your progress.

thanks to all. Started tractor and it runs fine with the choke puled full on. When I push choke in, then it chokes engine like the choke is suppose to work. Im going to run it like this for a while, maybe a speck of dirt in carb somewhere, will work through system. I am going to sell, how much should I ask. Thanks

Which old fergy do you have, maybe I missed something. Set the air correctly even though its obviously getting to much maybe sucking in around a bad intake gasket. Eliminate the tank by using another gas source, check the float level, firing order and make sure order is in ccw direction on dist.
