Trunion bushing

When checking various components while doing motor work, I noticed my pivot bushing is, I think very loose. Just wondering how much if any play should there be. My steering is very snug with no play what so ever. Any thoughts?

the center bearing got so bad on my tractor that the front wheels would shimmy when going down a blacktop road.

I replaced the center axle bearing on my old to-35 as this loose bearing will place more pressure on those side support arms, (from in front of foot rest to axle). Need to check those bolts that go through the axle supports and axle,

they can wear and that places even more pressure on your center bearing. All the bearings and support arms work together. All bearings should be replaced together.

you also have bearings in the front wheel axles that turn, arms (up down) I do not know the name of the part, but each front wheel axle goes up and turns in this part, tie rod ends connect to this part of the axle. I also replace the bearings in both sides,

my old to-35 now drives and steers good, as I also tighten up the play in the steering box.

good luck, some of these parts do not come apart easy as they have been together for many years.

sorry I do not know the correct name of each of the parts. Just jack it up and feel of each part, keep replacing parts until you no longer feel any loose play,

######If you lube the center support bearing only use spray graphite, as you do not want to use any lube that will attract dirt.

I don't think putting grease on it will be bad for it i have tractors with grease fittings on the pivot point it seems that the dirt wont go past the grease causing any real damage but that's up for debate.

I guess you are right, but my old tractor did not have a grease fitting on joint. So the only way I could think of to lube the bearing was the spray graphite. So far it works ok and does not collect dirt.

a few years later model, but still a MF that looks like the TO. Fergy installed grease zerks on the lift arm cross shaft under the back of the seat. I guess if you do not grease it much you would be ok, but if you grease it too much the grease falls down into the hyd/trans gear case cavity, do not know what that grease would do for the hyd system. guess they stopped that after a few years.
