i think my carb. on my to-20 is sticking. i can run it , but when i shut it off it will flood after a bit. is there something i can put in the gas tank or just keep cutting it off? if i cot it off it will start back everytime. if i leave the gas on it floods out, then its hard to start. thanks.

I always clean carb overnight and put a new kit in. This will fix your problem. I use Berryman cleaner. Loosen screws, leave space so cleaner will go into carb. This will clean everything. Never use air to blow into carb before taking apart. This will damage float.

Bill;
If this carb is flooding while setting/not running.......two things can/will cause that.
sticking or leaking floats, and/or out of adjustment floats!!!......Can also cause the float needle, not to close when setting!!!!! (engine off)

Check float setting and float needle seating!!!!

I thought I would add this to it. I rebuilt one a while back and there was a burr inside the seat where the slots are cut in the side so watch for that. Also the pic shows two needles that came out of identical kits but they are different lengths. Compare your old needle to the new one.

I have always felt these carbs (used on many different manufactures) to be sensitive to sticky float valves. When I was young the oldtimers ALWAYS shut the fuel off when not in use. I found a new style valve (made by a family business in MA) Grose or gorss jets work best .It is basically 2 small balls on top of each other instead of a needle,the float hits the first ball,which lifts the top ball into the seat. Because the balls rotate a little they seem to self clean,plus they keep very precise level in the bowl.

I also go to e-bay ( I am lazy LOL) and buy a 12volt electric shut off valve (mine have all been converted to 12 V) and put it in line - now when I shut the engine off the fuel automatically shuts off too.
