FE-35 loose transmission shift lever

The shift lever is loose and rotates on its base.

I looked in the parts list explosed view...
there is a pin at the base of the shifter that I suspect to be broken. There is not enough detail on the image.

Is it possible to replace the pin without removing the transmission cover ?

The tractor is at our summer place I would like to bring the proper tools and parts when I go there next time.

Thanks In advance.

This picture may help you. The new pin is splined at one end to lock in the housing. You will need a flat ended punch to drift the old pin out. Sometimes the new pin can be used to drive out the old pin, but if yours is broken it may take a bit of jiggling about to get the holes lined up. Check also that the cup is tight in the housing, this is held tight by a locknut/collar that has to be tightened with a 'C' wrench.
