TED20 Oil supply to rocker shaft

Hello,

I am hoping someone can shed some light onto why I have no oil supply to the rocker shaft, its a 1949 TED20. Oil pressure was previously nest to zero, changed oil & filter, cleaned pickup strainer which was filthy, have now got good pressure on the starter, but no oil up to the top.
I"ve fed a wire down the gallery, through the head, and got as far as the camshaft, and blew air into the oil gallery along side the camshaft, and down the hole from above.
Where does this feed come from and any thoughts as to why no oil??
Haven"t started it yet, only turned on starter with no plugs in..

I would drop the pan and check the pickup on the oil pump. Make sure it isn"t loose and sucking air instead of oil. Check the relief valve on the pump. See if it is stuck. I"m not real familiar with the standard engines but there are several other engines out there that will not pump oil unless the oil pump has been primed. Might be worth trying unless the pump is worn out. Have you blown air thru the passages in the filter housing?

For what its worth . Is the shaft that turns the oil pump broke or sheared / rounded . Some motors are set so the dist. won't turn if this happens . Others will run , and self destruct .
Good luck

Cheers for all the reply,s, its appreciated..

Oil pump seems fine, good pressure at the gallery along side the camshaft, and runs and sounds sweet, so I'm guessing most of it is fine, just the rocker shaft.
Just couldn't figure out where the rocker supply comes from...

Have you had the rocker assembly loose? Not sure on the standards but a lot of engines that have shaft mount rockers the oil supply hole is only on one side of the shaft. If it was to get turned to where the hole is on top you wouldn"t get any oil. Also FE Ford engines used shaft mount rockers but the bolt where the oil supply is, was a special bolt. It looked like all the others in the assembly but it was turned down all the way to the bolt head to allow the oil to flow around it into the rocker shaft. I have seen several engines destroyed by people either putting the bolt in the wrong location or using a regular bolt in its place. That may be something to look at also.

Thanks Jason,

Rocker shaft is fitted correctly, it gets its oil through a hole in the rear pedestal. There is a plug on the rear of the head that gives you access to the oil feed gallery up there, and there is no oil there either, just before the rocker shaft.
It looks as if it gets a feed from the rear camshaft bearing, and if the plug there is removed, there is plenty of oil.

Strange..
