TO-20 Front End Support

Hey guys, I'm getting ready to replace my axle pin and bushing and was wondering about the best way to support the front of the tractor while I have the axle out. It will probably need to be supported for a week or so, gonna clean, paint, and change out the radiator/ pads/ hoses at the same time.

Thanks!

Bob , does the TO have an alloy sump as does the TE?
I am not sure , but if so a steel plate or heavy
timber block to protect the sump might be an idea .

(quoted from post at 21:13:38 03/23/13) Rear wheels chocked and a floor jack under the front of the engine?

I guess that is what I was wondering. Where should I support the front of the tractor that won't damage anything? I hate making more work by doing a job improperly. I don't know if the oil pan (sump) would support the weight. I thought about a pair of jack stands and a 6x6 wooden crosspiece under the transmission right behind the bellhousing, but I'm not sure where the CG is.

I use a stack of timbers under the transmission all the time. The engine will hang out front just fine, there is plenty of weight at the back of the tractor. I wouldn't put wood on top of jack stands, might be a bit unstable if the tractor shifts slightly while working on it.

Thanks Dan, that's what I was wondering. Going to have to scrounge around and find me some thick post material to cut up for cribbing blocks.
