A friend found this and was wondering what it was used for? It fits on the small pto. Thanks in advance for your help.

No expert....an 'ex' is a has been and a spirt is a drip under pressure!
I have never seen anything like this, It must be an American thing, but it has to drive another shaft that runs longways under the tractor....maybe a mid mounted mower, though they are usually 'V' belt driven.

That's a belt drive pulley. We used one for driving our cordwood saw but they can be used for anything that drives off of a belt like a corn grinder etc..

I've been looking for one for my 54 TE-A20 for a while now. I think it'll also fit a Ford N series.

Hi Sam, I am like you I do not reconise this pulley. I have a 1951 TED20 with a Ferguson mid mounted mower and it drives with 2 vee belts with a pulley on the PTO shaft. MJ

No offence Joe , but to drive a grinder with this pulley it would need a shaft and pulley to run either over the top or underneath this pulley. As to run it the conventional way you would need to take the wheel off the tractor and then you couldn't tighten the belt unless by moving the grinder. Normal pulleys worked through a 90 degree gearbox .

No offense taken, but this pulley looks identical to the one on my granddads N tractor and the old 3pt cordwood saw. The gearbox was on the saw.

How did the belt tighten, Joe? Did the shaft and pulley for the saw run above, below or to the side of the tractor pulley?. See... if the saw was 3 point mounted the belt would only run straight when in one position(possibly sitting on the ground?) and would then throw off the pulleys when raised. The normal cordwood saw with the gearbox on the tractor did slacken the belt when raised but both pulleys were still in line when lowered again. This pulley does look to be Ferguson or possibly Sherman? It has the same mount as the PTO extension but it does have a spline and nut arrangement to keep the pulley on, not the 6 spline shaft of the PTO extension.

Saw your post about TED20. Found one here in US. These are rare here. Do you operate yours on TVO? Plan to rebuild and would like to learn from others owners.
