My tractor has what seems like plenty of spark at the points when i touch them with a screwdriver but when i spin it over just a little spark every once in a while. Any ideas?

dirty points, bad condenser.
First shine up your points with either a nail file or an ifnition points file.
Keep in mind, if you file them crooked, they will not seat flat. So, after filing you may have to tweak them back to a flat face contact

This always starts a fight! Two people, take one wire off a plug, hold it in the air a foot or so away. using insulated pliers, wooden clothespin, or have someone you need to get even with do this. Then when someone is cranking the engine -ignition on, keep bringing the wire closer to the spark plug. At a certain point- it will arc, hopefully the other plugs will fire, then quickly shut off the tracotr and install the plug wire back in place. Seems even a brand new coil needs... a charge? polarity update? shock? zap? The guy holding the wire might get a zap too. Good luck.
