I'm half owner of a 535 backhoe and we have 2 problems. One is the hoe won't swing the full 180, only about 120 degrees. It's the chain type. The other is the back bucket won't extend and we have to place it on the ground and move forward to extend it.Any help would be appreciated.I.ve posted this on the F forum but not a sole has a clue, not even a guess, no answer at all. Kinda makes me not want to own anymore of um!

What do you expect from Ford people???
I 'think' some hoes only swing about 120 degrees. I think a full 180... and it may not recover a swing back to 90... I think the other problem might be just rubber seals... another '3 day job for a $3 part'?????

I think you may just need a cylinder rebuild kit for the bucket problem and I would try to find a manual and parts book for the other swing issue.
I had found a good ebay seller for cylinder kits for my Case 680ck

Good luck

It does retract just won't open. I haven't had any experience operating a backhoe or even a bucket but by buddy just wants some ideas, he thinks maybe the PO took a link out of the chain after a break for the 120 degree swing and has no clue about the extraction.

Oh. I see. A joke. Took me all morning to get it.
I am tearing into a 4 way valve on a davis loader that acts like you bucket, so there is a homework assignment for you to. If you look at the scematics or whatever on the brochures for the little backhoe/trencher on the market... and that might be why they are called 'trenchers'... they just don't swing 90 to left or right, just about 60 either side, makes digging a square hole pretty time consuming. Yeah, you need reading material for that model...
