TO30 with a hand clutch on the PTO

I went and picked up my Ford 16-47 pull type combine today. The old guy that owned it was a retired Massey dealer. He had a nice TO30 sitting there that had a hand clutch on the pto. He said where the coupler is inside the transmission that there was a clutch pack that the lever worked. You can see the pto lever in the second pic, it is beside the hand lever. Anybody else ever see a set up like this? Or know what it is? He was a dealer since the early 50's and he said it was the only one he had ever seen.

It is a live pto kit made by Sherman. I have one on my TO30. It works fine. Are you going to buy the tractor? They are uncommon but I have seen several.

I've only seen pictures of them in the last 5
years. If my Dad had seen 1 before 1956 we would have
had one for the TO30 that he bought new in '52

This is the second one I have seen a picture of.
Mind you, A Picture.
Drooling, Yes, that is a problem at this end.

Yes live pto. But if you are buying it make sure it works properly. I have ran across a couple in fords that didn't work.
BTW watch when you sit in that seat.

Bruce and you others, if you would like to see one in person come to the Lagrange, In. show this August or come to the Ferguson Expo in Aug. 2014 and I am positive there will be one there. Brent, don't you dare sell that now. LOL

And what does that red crow bar in the seat do???
Nope, never saw one, but heard of em. I 'think' it works like an Allis CA live pto- the lever disengages one axle from the diff, so's you sit still while the pto churns away. I bet this apparatus cost more than the price increase of a 35 over a 30. But light years over a single stage tractor huh... even tho I bet they had to take it down to the last nut and bolt to install one.... you better take her home soon....

I"m not sure that he would sell the tractor. I will say it was probably one of the nicest unrestored TO30"s I have ever seen. He even cranked it up and it ran like a top. His place was like a museum there was so many cool things around it. Tony do you have any Rustoleum red? My combine and Dearborn sickle mower both need a new coat of paint.

That's a bit of a trek. Or-uh-gun to indy-anna.
You buying the gas??
Not to mention the travel time.
Guess that is why my $300 Ford 881D is sitting in the shed waiting for me to start fixing it.
Along with everything else...

Oh there should be a couple 55 gallon drums of red around here... I'll look in the morning. I was just inside the 202 this afternoon... I can see how this thing would work, replaces the sliding sleeve and cotter pin?
we can experiment with Dan's tractor... he's already half way there...

Thats what he told me is that it replaces that sleeve. In all honesty I probably will use Rustoleum Sunrise Red to paint my combine and Dearborn sickle mower. I've heard the sunrise red is a close match to the old dearborn red. If I don't quit I am going to have to open a sickle mower museum. I've got those two Ferguson AEO 20's, the Dearborn 14-16 i just picked up,a John Deere Big No.4, and a Case. I just got thru selling a Ford 515 sickle mower I had. I must be addicted to sickle mowers, or just old cutters and harvesters in general.

My '52 TO30 has one. It is made by Sherman and allows the
tractor to act like it has live power. I have been told they are
somewhat rare.

Jason,
I just recently inherited a TO30 with this option.
Can you provide me any operational or maintenance documents?

Thanks in advance!
