where is the govenor at and what is it supposed to do? does it make the engine rev up when you are discing, or plowing? if mine dont work right can i put something in the gas or what? can i tell if it is working by just cranking it up or what do i need to do to tell?if i sound dumb it is because i am when it comes to this. lol thanks guys

It doesn't really make the engine rev up, it just makes the engine try to maintain the same rpm's when it's under a load. If you are sitting on the tractor look on the right hand side at the carburetor. You will see a rod that runs from it to an L shaped bracket on the side of the motor. That is part of your governor. The flyweights that control it are inside the engine behind the timing cover. Have someone crank the tractor and put it in 3rd or 4th gear and hold the brake and let the clutch out to where the tractor will try to move. Watch that L shaped bracket for movement. If the governor is working it should move when you let the clutch out because you are holding the brake which simulates the tractor pulling a load. If it doesn't move then it could need resetting,could be one of the springs are bad or broken, or the governor inside could be bad. If it needs resetting John(UK) has the easiest method for resetting it and will email them to you if you need it. I have his instructions saved myself so I can email them to you also.
