I found this ad in a 1956 Farm Journal. Like the Ferguson 30 ad below I'd never heard of, I've not heard of this description either. Someone tore out the left page with the 40 on it. Anyone else ever heard it called this?

That documentary I have says Harry Ferguson called it quadramatic control, I suppose that name died when Massey decided to no longer keep the Ferguson and Massey Harris lines seperate.

If you look close in the text, it still talks about the Quadramatic Control, referring to all the ways to set your implements with the hydraulics. I really don't have any sales literature, just a parts book for a 40, so I'm not familiar with the sales pitches of the day. I just happen to run across this. Kind of interesting.

Yes it is. He had all kinds of odd names for stuff. Like the high and low range gear box on the video is called a Ferguson Epicyclic reduction gear box. Makes me wonder about how many names and terms that have been forgotten or that we don't know about.

Epicyclic refers to the planetary ring and sun gear set-up used in the hi-lo. I had my transmission all apart and I thought that was a pretty neat unit.
