re- my oil pressure

well i put the new gauge in. when i crank it it goes to 20. let it run about 15 min, it drops to about 9 or 10, so i guess in ok then? thanks for all y'all help

That"s quite a swing in oil presure from 40 psi to 20 psi to 9 or 10 psi just by changing the gauge!
Is the old gauge showing zero when it was disconnected from the engine or does it show a reading with it disconnected from the oil line? These old Bourdon type gages can be damaged by over pressure and generally if they show a non-zero reading with the engine shut down, they have been damaged by over pressure.

If these new pressures are accurate, either you relief valve is sticking open, you have a worn pump, worn bearings, or all of the above.
