[quote:079ae5563e]I heard that some of his 4 wheel drive components or system are still in use today talk about genius![/quote:079ae5563e]
Most modern 4WD vehicles use the Ferguson constant four wheel drive system which in it's simplest form is effectively three differentials. My 2012 Toyota Landruiser Prado uses the Ferguson drive system with a fluid coupling replacing the center diff.
Here is a link to the Ferguson P99 racing car and the Ferguson R5 family sedan:
Harry Ferguson made the first flight in Ireland and was the first Briton to build and fly his own aeroplane. The amazing part was that whilst he had seen an aircraft and taken basic measurements, he designed and built the aircraft himself.
Whilst there is unconfirmed reports that a Frenchman was first to fly a heavier than air powered aircraft, the first recorded flight was by Richard Pearce on on 31 March 1903, then Wilbur Wright on 14 December 1903, so when Harry Ferguson took to the air on 31 Decmber 1909 the science of flight was certainly in it's infancy!
