Fuel strainer???

I've picked up a original '46 2N Ford. Been sitting almost a year since the original owner went into a nursing home. Gas tank was empty but clean so I deceided to change the screen in the fuel bowl and took it off to dunk in carb cleaner. I was surprised to find no flat screen but a cylinder of brass screens about the size of your little finger screwed into the top of the bowl casting. It also has a cast outline with HF cast in it.This setup is not shown in the Ford parts book. Any info on this?
Thanks,Mike.

Yes many of my bowls have that type of screen it is a Ferguson design and it is interchangeable & well sought after among the Fergie nutz. I would be willing to trade for a very good original ford bowl if you'd like.

Thanks for the reply Trac. I had bought a replacement but see that the line fitting hole is smaller than the HF, I can't swap and will have to keep using this one until I figure out the correct adapter for the fuel line hook up. This is a low buck project,$650., and so far is just for a boom rig to pick up wheel weights and other stuff I'm getting too old to risk my back on. Mike

I don't see why it won't thread on what tractor are you working on? I have some fords and don't remember running in to that issue.

Upon further research, I believe that sometime in the past, the fuel bowl had the hole for the fuel line cross threaded and it was retapped for a line fitting along with a fuel line repair. Well, it works for me and is not leaking so I guess it's good enough for this $650. 2N and me. Mike
