Oil pressure

After rebuilding the engine and the oil pump on my 57 to35 I only picked up 5 lbs. of pressure on the gauge,(20 to25). Then while fighting the loss of pressure on my fe35 with the standard gas I swapped out the 2 gauges. Then the elcheapo ebay gauge with the colors barely stayed in the green and eventually stayed in the red so I thought the set screw on the oil pump gear had stripped so I'm pulling the pump, checking the orings, setscrew, and found nothing wrong so i finally put in a third gauge and walla 30 lbs!!Moral of story--- Don't buy cheap crap on ebay!!Here's an after and before pic of old smokey and no that's not the tires smoking.

Good job! Rustoleum? I know everyone thinks I am a butcher... so I'll admit... I hardly ever pay attention to oil gauges. They are all sparatic, old ones are clogged up, new ones are... yeah, ebay junk. You could go nuts worrying about Allis Chalmers oil gauges.... they seemed to 'lose their prime'... register 0, but break the pressure fittings, fill the line with a squirt oiler can... magic!
I just did an oil pump kit too. Without my Bridgeport, I really don't know how I would have drilled half into the steel shaft, half aluminum gear.wow. And tap the hole? Patience of a saint eh? It doesn't seem like that would ever losen up even without the allen key.... but.. Murphy's law would get ya if you didn't do it.....

Only on this one planet is there a guy that's been there and done that Buuuuuut maybe there's a parallel universe-- buuuut colder-- naaa they drink Carling black labels-- different species.

It is good that you understand carling black label drinkers are a superior species... live long and prosper earthing....
I just thought of it. Inno said his favorite beer is B-L.... he doesn't drink >bud lite< does he? Its a wonder he gets anything done besides lay down with a bag of ice cubes on his forehead....
Got to bring him on a vacation to civilization.. Georgia sound like a good spot. Got any projects for him??

How do you know which one is right? Unless you have a master gauge to check a gauge against, the old one could still be correct and the new one wrong. Proper pressure is 25-30 psig

Did you check the relief valve and the relief valve spring.

Sure we'll try and figure out which gauge is right, American made or the one from fleabay.I dought we'll have to worry about a relief valve with an added washer that won't kick in till now over 30 lbs.
