Looking through the FENA site is the article by Paul Nelson titled "EVOLUTION OF THE FERGUSON TO-35 TO THE MASSEY FERGUSON 35" shows the Bamboo Beige was not used until sometime in May of 1956 at the same time the F 40 was put into production. At this same time the three prefix letters were starting to be used and the serial number plate background was changed from dark green to black. So the way I understand it all 55 and the early 56 up to the same time the three letter prefixes showed up those tractors were Light Grey and Dark Green. Once they started to use the Bamboo Beige I guess they had extra Green paint so they used it up on some of the Beige tractors. It does not say at what serial number the Beige was started, so if when you are looking at 56 TO 35s check to see if they have the three prefix letters. If we all check this at shows we could possibly find that out. Write down the serial number and mention if it has the prefix letters or not and what they are plus the colors of the tractor. To make it easy on every one you can send that info to me and I will start a data sheet to see if we can find when the earliest prefix letters show up. [email protected] Richard
