Tony Did the TO 35's have pan seats or seat like the 40's with cushions? The Bambo has same seat as my 40's.(#146319)1955. The Green & Gray (1955) has a pan seat no cushion. Couldn't deal with man on Bambo, asking $2300 all tires bad, needs gas tank, steering wheel, lights, didn't hear it run.Hope he gets it.lol

Mickey if that was the serial number you posted for the Bamboo that should also be a Grey and Green, which I am sure you realize.

Gosh, here we go back to the FENA site again. I 'think' the tall seat was std by then, but I bet you could order one with the pan, and I'm sure those were cheaper too. I put a pan on the turf 20 for awhile because it was easier to swing around and see what was going on back there. I kinda like the pans for short jobs. In a nutshell, dunno....

Mickey I have a 35 owners manual dated 1-55 and all the pictures are showing the bucket style seat. I am thinking they used the pan seat on the Special which came out in 1958.

I have two '55 TO 35's, #147089 and #156085 both are Deluxe and have deep seats with the cushions and two stage clutches. The AGCO parts book shows both style of seat, deep with cushions and the shallower pan seat w/o cushions. Maybe the deluxe came with the comfortable seat and the standard came with the less than comfortable seat. Is the '55 a Deluxe with a two stage clutch?

Well I was just looking through some material and the Special came out in 58 and the Standard and Deluxe both came out in 1955. Possibly the Standard had the pan seat?

Over here...if you had the deluxe with the live drive PTO it usually had the foam-float /bucket seat with removable cushions and a rev counter. The basic tractor had a flip up pan seat and no rev counter nor live drive. I think from old American brochures I have read it was the same over thar!

As far as I know you can't tell by the serial # on the earlier TO 35. Like Sam was saying I think you tell by the live PTO and tachometer. Both of mine also came with power adjust rear wheels, but they do rust out, so someone may have changed them for standard wheels.

On ours there were prefix letters that told the factory spec, same as on your F-40 So I assume the 35 was the same?
SNM was a 'S'=standard width....'N' Perkins diesel....'M' dual clutch
SDM was the same only the 'D' was a standard diesel engine.
Look for an 'M' in the prefix.
Sam

You are correct Sam however our TO 35s did not start using the prefix letters until sometime in 1956. See the following post "1st bamboo serial number."

You can't tell by the tach as anyone could buy one and put it in if they wanted one.
Here is something I did not know in 1958-1960 Gas and Diesel Deluxe models were available at a reduced price with single stage clutches and were labeled as Gasoline Standard and Diesel Standard. Always something to learn.

Yes Mickey the S/N prefix letters will tell that however they did not put the prefix letters on until sometime in the middle of 1956 production. At the same time the F-40s went into production.

Before the 3 digit prefix there was only an "S" on the 35's that had a single clutch. If there was no "S" then it would be a double clutch or deluxe model.

My 56 # 169312 with no prefix had the"extra part" on the back of the seat held on by the 2 wing nuts which suggests a padded seat. It had ps and 2stage and shades of green and beige on sheet metal although the green looked more like JD's sic shade.
