(Looks like your book must be an original.) I'm waiting until snow blading season is over to change my oil and filter for the first time, and I'm curious to see what parts have been lost out of my assembly. (The tractor seems to have been fairly well maintained otherwise, so hopefully I won't find any big surprises.) One question: where does the felt washer shown as Reference No. 53 go? And, does the No. 48 Spring come out when changing the filter, or does the No 49 felt washer (assuming it's there) hold the spring in place? Finally, as has been discussed in great detail elsewhere on this forum (including by me), I have three (3) different oil filters that are ALL allegedly the correct filter for the TO-20, and I'm still not certain that any of them is correct! It appears that many sellers/manufacturers are ignoring the "inside-to-outside" flow requirement for the TO-20 filter, as mentioned above by John (UK), and as discussed in the TO-20 Owner's Manual and Shop Manual, and are selling the same filter for both the TO-20 and TO-30. You may have trouble getting the plate to seal again if it has been damaged by hitting something. Always use a new seal on the plate. John(UK) 01-10-2013 01:41:40 79.76.250.201 Report to Moderator	Re: my t-o 20 questions in reply to bobs old iron, 01-09-2013 23:36:24   Use 10W/30 oil it is better for cold conditions and an oil for a diesel is not suitable as it contains detergent additives which will loosen all the crud inside and it will be carried around through the Pump etc. and will cause some wear. John(UK) 01-11-2013 05:27:07 79.76.241.161 Report to Moderator	Re: my t-o 20 questions in reply to bobs old iron, 01-10-2013 08:35:46   Change the filter every other oil change, if you don't know when the oil filter was last changed then change it and then you will know for sure. The oil should be changed every 150 hours. Take a note how it all assembles, Jason has sent a picture for you to follow. Make sure that the "O" rings and felt seals are in good order, fit new ones if necessary, don't take any chances. It is a paper type filter with a wire mesh internally and the whole thing is in a perforated steel can. The filter should be an inside to outside filter or it will not clean the oil properly. It's just a paper cartridge style filter. If the filter housing comes out make sure you put it and the spring and stuff back in the right order or it will be pointless to have an oil filter, or the spring could be missing because sometimes people loose them and don't replace them.
