Joe, I have a wix 51010 filter in my garage marked TO-35, it should be cross for a napa 1010 so if the filter has not been mispackaged it should be the right filter.the filter should not just easily slide on the bolt, the two gaskets top/bottom of the filter should fit tight around the bolt. may have to use a little oil on the new gasket. there should be a spring and washer that goes onto the bolt first, then the filter, the spring and washer hold the filter down aganist the body of the motor insuring that the oil flows through the filter. Otherwise the oil will just do a free flow and never go through the filter. spinon filters were somewhat of an improvement in filter changing, but these old filters hang low on the body of the motor and can be subject to sticks and whatever in the woods, etc: guess that is why they made the filter case as heavy as they did. |
