TO35 Oil Filter number

Nothing is ever easy, Napa book calls for a NAPA 1010 Oil Filter, when I took out the old oil filter it was a Baldwin P43, both are canister filters but since I am helping a friend out on this tractor I do not know if the Baldwin is even correct. The bolt that holds the canister housing on will not go thriugh the NAPA 1010. Any help out there ??? This is on a gasoline TO 35. Baldwin looks correct with rubber washers on each end !!

I looked at Wix website and they call for 51010 which is a Napa 1010. Fram calls for a C3P which crosses to a Wix 51010. I could not find anything for a Baldwin P43. It's not a good number. I can't see why the bolt wouldn't go thru the filter. Is it open all the way thru? Is it the right filter in the box?

Baldwin P40 is a good number and that is what it calls for a 35. But it crosses to a Napa 1010. Something isn't right with the filter you bought or something.

THe hole in the filter is just to small, not by much though, the Baldwin has rubber washers on each end and the 1010 does not.

Joe,
I have a wix 51010 filter in my garage marked TO-35, it should be cross for a napa 1010
so if the filter has not been mispackaged it should be the right filter.

the filter should not just easily slide on the bolt, the two gaskets top/bottom of the filter should fit tight around the bolt. may have to use a little oil on the new gasket.

there should be a spring and washer that goes onto the bolt first, then the filter, the spring and washer hold the filter down aganist the body of the motor insuring that the oil flows through the filter. Otherwise the oil will just do a free flow and never go through the filter.

spinon filters were somewhat of an improvement in filter changing, but these old filters hang low on the body of the motor and can be subject to sticks and whatever in the woods, etc:

guess that is why they made the filter case as heavy as they did.

Take it back and get the correct one. When you go to get the new one take the old one and the bolt with you so the parts guy can match them up. Your tractor is worth the correct filter and not one that you have to rework.
