How do you check oil leavel on a Ferguson F40 steering gear? there"s no fill hole and plug. also how do you lube the bearing right under the steering wheel? pull the wheel off every time?
Thanks
Ed

Left side steering box close to top is a fill plug.Close to where the tube starts up.You may be able to spray lub under steering wheel.I've never lubed one, when taking apart it is only a felt and small bushing.

Later models had a greaser fitted so you didn't need to remove the Wheel. Lubrication only needs doing every 12 months, use some HMP grease, it will last longer. You could fit a greaser with a little care. Use plenty of grease and this will help to keep water out of the steering Box.
There should be an oil filler at the bottom of the column, you may find that it is directly under the battery at the highest point on the Steering Box, usually it is has a square headed plug fitted....John(UK) [email protected]
