Nothing worth taking pictures of, couldn't focus that close anyway. OK. What's the proper name of them? The caps on top of the valve spring keepers? Anyway, this thing must have made alot of tappet noise for a long time, the cap on #7 must have come off, so that cylinder had to have a huge skip... then the cap fell into the lifter channel, you could see it half way down in there. That must be what siezed the engine, cause now it turns over just fine. So once I got the push rod up, the thing fell further down in there. Agh, I want to tear it all down anyway, check out the rest and install a basic kit while it is appart this far.

Nothing worth taking pictures of? Was that a dig? Am I over sharing? I wanna see some pictures !!!
Got our first "plowable" snow yesterday and the 35 still sits in it's warm garage because I have no time to work on it. Maybe over the holidays. Told myself I wouldn't be plowing with the loader on the 202 anymore but...

Where do I go to get those caps? I need a few for my second F-40.
Any of you guys got any old ones lying around?
Sam

Oh Sam, when people like you, John and David have to ask where to get spare parts, the rest of us are..knacker'd!
Mr Inno, an out of place push rod is a waste of film even for a digital camera! I will take a pic tomorrow, I noticed the web on the manifolds are thick are solid... never noticed them before you came along... now I worry about stuff like that...
You can post all the baby and horsey ... and tractor pics your heart desires.... but try to aim it so there is no snow in the background... it is finally snowing here too....

Not sure if there is enough adjustment in the rockers to compensate. I'm pretty sure they are better to have to save wear on the valves, maybe a harder material? Do they fall out often? Pretty sure my two 134s have 'em. As long as the lash is adjusted properly they shouldn't just fall out.

Ahoy cap'in Sam! This'll sound like shippin coal to Newcastle, but.... Look in the YT store on the left, HF, 35, engine parts....
'intake and exhaust valve stem caps'??
I now remember calling them 'rotor caps', but yesterday it didn't sound right when typing it out... anyway, I will order a bunch and send you some... are these just a Continental thing?

I think what I read in the manual was the exhaust valves are the only ones with "roto caps". Not sure these are the same thing.

This calls for more research Inno. This engine has 8 caps, I don't remember seeing them on the TO30... I 'think' the 23c did.
The store here sells caps for in and ex Z134's, so... I dunno... I do know the one that fell into the great abbiss has got to come out of there...

According to the valve train page at agcopartsbooks they are "Cap, Intake Valve Stem (Order 830704M91" and "Cap, Exhaust Valve Stem (Order 830705M91)" These are the caps which go directly on the end of the valve stem and make contact with the rocker arm.

The roto cap assembly I was referring to goes on before the valve spring retainer (keepers) and apparently rotates the exhaust valve with each stroke. They have some bearings inside I think, not quite sure just how they work or how to tell if they need replacing or not.

Here's a link to the parts book page. http://www.agcopartsbooks.com/PartsBooksN/Viewer/book.aspx?book=agco/693063
Cut and paste it 'cause I'm not smart enough to make it a clickable link.
