the local weather forecasters are predicting doom and gloom for this area. the national weather service (NWS) site predicts a much less destructive scenerio.

either way i guess i need to get things off the basement floor in case the sump pump is overwhelmed.

Yep the generator is gassed up ready to go to keep the sump pump running if or when we lose power. They say 3 to 6" of rain where i'm at!

Been hearing about this one all week... how many people will die of old age before it shows up?
Atleast this time, the leaves are almost all off the trees, and tropical temperature rain doesn't need to get shoveled. But yeah, a 12 volt sump pump is a fine investment in a wet cellar.
When ex hurricane Irene hit Mass and Vermont, she swept the cellars and foundations out from under the houses! And that was without wind, just H2O no sump pump in the world would handle.

I played golf Wed. Thru. and Fri. in Jeykll Island Ga. and the gusts were up to 25mph and the ocean was all whipped up with it a long way away.Button down the hatches!!

I have a battery backup sump pump,Watch dog system. A lot of the farm boys have it on there farms,(Eastern NY area). A 3500 generator will help.
