The flow should not be erratic when the thermostat is open. The radiator should only be filled to about 1/4 " over the top of the core.Is the belt slipping? Are you sure the thermostat is ok? Is the lower hose collapsing when you rev it up?

| The lower hose isn't collapsing. Water is just above the core. I need to check the belt. It wasn't squealing but may not be as tight as possible. Thanks for the idea.
