where can i get the spring that goes inside the oil filter canister on my TO-35?

i got the replacement oil filter spring for my TO-35 at the local mf dealer,

when i ask about it's size, etc: the parts guy said you need the right one made for the filter,
a spring too weak or too strong might not work properly.

was about $8 if i remember correctly,

at least, with the spring in place, I know the oil is flowing through the oil filter, rather than bypassing the filter.
