Anybody do any Ferg engine swaps

At onetime (1957) you could get sleeves and pistons that fit the Z129 that made it about the size of the Z134

I think most of the Z129 sleeve/piston kits sold today are 'overbore' kits and you will end up with the same bore as a Z134.

We like our diesels ...some have even fitted Japanese diesels from SUVs into Fergie tractors .

If I can't get the engine running on the one I picked up I was curious what my options were. Does anyone want to elaborate a little more on what was involved with their swaps. I was curious on what doesn't need an adaptor plate to mount up to the trans.

I'm interested in an engine conversion too for my TE-20. Thus far the Ford tractor gas 4 cyl engine 8N or 9N has a mounting flange of only 14.5 inches diameter. Ferguson 15.5 inches diameter. Not sure how ez it is to find such ford tractor/model A or Model T engines. The Ford 2.0 (88 Ford ranger) with carb looks real close but starter motor mounting a problem.

My preference is to avoid diesel, prefer gasoline, avoid Fi, prefer carburetor. Would like an engine that is easy to obtain and easy to get parts for. Even a B+S vangaurd 30 hp type engine would be ok.

Something fast, ez, plentiful and cheap. There has GOT to be SOMETHING!!!

No offense to any of u diesel owners but quite frankly i wouldn't have a diesel engine in ANYTHING even if i found a brand new one for free. Not if I have to maintane a diesel engine. Of course as soon as i say that i will probably wind up with a diesel conversion after alll. :) :)

That is why we like the Perkins, you only need to change the oil, no
further maintenence until it needs rebuilding after about 30 years!

ok. The Perkins diesel. But what about throwing all of that power and torque on a trans and axle designed for a 30 hp Continental???? I really don;t know. I would think it's too much power.

We built one for pulling with a Standard petrol engine and used the
head of a Triunph TR4 sports/racing car with twin choke webbers,
we also fitted a high-lift cam and increased the revs to 4500rpm,We
managed to get 200 hp out of the beast, quite a rise from 22 hp.
this power was all transmitted through a diesel TE rear axle, which
is the same as a TO30 with no problems, only problem was getting
it stopped, but we sussed that also!

Out of curiosity, which make and model of SUV's were diesel engines canablaized from to suit the Ferguson To 20 or TE 20's???? I just mite bite the diesel bullet and try a diesel from an SUV if it fits the TE20 with reasonable ease.

Diahatsu 4 trac...isuzu trooper.....older landrover...The list is
endless we have some smart fitters over here....even Jaguar V12s
shoehorned in.....Look on utube.
